Quirindi residents will be looking for party equipment hire in Melbourne, and get ready to laugh, once the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow rolls into town.
The event, which will be held at Royal Theatre Quirindi, on June 16, a Sunday, with comedian Kevin Kropinyeri as MC. The roadshow is the extension of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the world’s third-largest international comedy show, which was established back in 1987.
The event, a mainstay for party equipment hire in Melbourne, brings in hundreds of local and international comedians and artists, recording 469 shows and 6,488 performances from 2,228 artists back in 2014. It also has several key events, including its flagship; the televised Gala, as well as the annual national roadshow, which travels across Australia to showcase festival highlights to Aussies living in regional towns.
As for Quirindi locals, they can expect performances from several comedians, including Dane Simpson, Ivan Aristeguieta, Pat McCaffrie, and Nikki Britton, among others confirmed for the show’s line-up.
Liverpool Plains Shire Council Events Coordinator Andrew Ballard noted that the annual festivity has managed to catch the attention from a lot of people from around the shire. He says that the event, which has been running for a century now, has become a night were families, friends, and all sorts of Aussies can come together and just laugh and enjoy a night with comedians, from Australia and from other parts of the world.
He noted how previous roadshow casts introduced comedians to people, who would then move up in the industry to become major names in radio and television.
Ballard welcomes as many Aussies in the shire as possible to come and enjoy the roadshow, which he describes as a fun-filled night, packed with hilarity.
For interested parties, tickets are now available on the Royal Theatre Quirindi’s official website, and Aussies are encouraged to bring friends along for the show, with sales discounts provided for groups of four people or more.
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow has recently been to other regional towns in the AU, with some of its most recent stops being Wyndham, Logan, and Bega.
