Raffles Hotels &Resorts Opens Two New Hotels
International hotel brand, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, announced the opening of two landmark properties; a luxury resort in Maldives and another in China. Raffles Shenzhen and Raffles Maldives Meradhoo both opened early in May, and are now taking reservations.
Accor Deputy CEO Chris Cahill issued a statement on the openings, saying that the Raffles portfolio now has 14 properties spread across 12 countries, each property located in carefully selected locations in the leading markets in the world. They add that the more-than-130-year-old brand is undergoing a renaissance, with a full project pipeline, that’ll see that brand add 8-10 hotels to its portfolio within the next couple of years.
The property in China is the Raffles Shenzen, which brings the brand’s take on luxury to Shenzen. Situated in the higher levels of a skyscraper, this property offers great views of Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong. The property has 168 guestrooms, alongside a selection of serviced residences.
Raffles’ other opening is a luxury resort in Maldives; the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo. Notably, the property is located at the remote southern end of the archipelago, as detached from the humdrum of daily life as it can. Sporting 21 island beach villas alongside 16 ocean overwater villas, the property is a distant haven for those looking to relax, accessible only via domestic flight and speed boat.
Raffles Brand & Strategic Partnerships Vice President Jeannette Ho says that, with the doors of the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo and Raffles Shenzen now officially open, the firm is happy to welcome guests to experience the service and charm that has made the Raffles brand so popular. The next few years, they noted, will be exciting and busy for the firm and their clients, as they’ll be adding more properties to their portfolio, working to expand their brand and bring Raffles to the most desirable and culturally rich locations in the world.
Other key projects in the Raffles pipeline include the Raffles Udaipur, the brand’s first property in India, as well as the renovation of the Old War Office in Whitehall, London, which will be transformed into the Raffles London, a new flagship property.
