Three Different Types Of Magnets
Magnets are known to man from ancient times and have numerous uses in our day to day lives. They are essential parts of many electronic equipment like washing machines, televisions and computers. Magnets are also found in simple things like wall clocks, toys, fridge magnets etc.
There are three main categories of magnets in Brisbane, namely permanent magnets, temporary magnets and electro magnets. The magnets are classified based on the strength of magnetism possessed by them and the methods of magnetising them.

Ceramic or ferrite magnets
NdFeB and SmCo magnets are popularly known as the rare earth magnets. The materials used to manufacture these magnets are obtained from the rare earth series of periodic table. NIB and smCo magnets are the strongest permanent magnets, which are difficult to demagnetize.
Alnico magnets as the name suggests is made from a combination of aluminium, nickel and cobalt. The alnico magnets can withstand high temperatures but they can be easily demagnetized. It is essential to store alnico magnets in specialized keeper so as to protect the magnetic properties.
Ceramic magnets also known as ferrite magnets are the most popularly used magnets at present. These magnets in Brisbane are manufactured by mixing magnetic powders in a binder. The ceramic or ferrite magnets possess strong magnetic properties but they are easily affected by changes in temperature.
Temporary magnets display magnetic properties when they are placed in an area with strong magnetic forces, they lose the properties when they are brought out of the field. Temporary magnets should be magnetised every time before use. Some examples of temporary magnets are paper clips and other soft iron items.
An electromagnets displays magnetism when electricity is passed through the wire around the magnet. The strength of the electromagnets depends on the strength of the electricity passing through the wire. This type of magnets in Brisbane are found in most of the industrial use heavy machinery.
